I will say that I was really frustrated with how Juliette acted in the book. From my old review I can say that I fully agree with a couple of points – I loved how this books a) had more Kenji in it, as to this day I have no qualms saying that he is my favourite character b) distanced Juliette from Adam, and made it more obvious that their relationship wasn’t healthy and c) showed how Juliette was struggling to become more social and accepting of herself. However, also looking at the other Goodreads reviews makes me feel better – at least a lot of other people were also all over this book.Ĭurrent Review: I have to say that I think this book did improve a lot on the first, but I was still really disappointed in how characters were handled. Actually, I think the worst part is my word choice… very very bad. There are… so many horribly cringey things about that review that I don’t even though were to start.
Talk about massive cliffy!! Please release #3 sooner Ms. The only bad thing was Juliette never answered Aaron’s last question in the book.
I loved how Kenji was more central in this book, because lets face it, he’s awesome!! She accepted them more, and didn’t detest herself as much as she did in Shatter me. I loved that Juliette also came into her powers more this book. And not only because he’s so awesome! Becuase Juliette feels safe to be herself around him and doesn’t have to worry about… killing him, I suppose. That one chapter… I was DYING!! So amazing!! If you haven’t guessed already, I’m team Warner… or Aaron (hehe). I’m dying at the fact that I won’t get to read more Warner x Juliette scenes… because oh that was one of the best parts of this book. I loved this book, literally could not put it down, and the only bad thing about it is that the third book in this series will be coming out in February 2013. Original Review (circa 2013): I don’t know where to start. And perhaps these new allies can help her shed light on the secret behind Adam’s-and Warner’s-immunity to her killer skin. Juliette will finally be able to actively fight against The Reestablishment and try to fix her broken world. She and Adam were able to escape Warner’s clutches and join up with a group of rebels, many of whom have powers of their own. But his mysterious immunity to her deadly power has left her shaken, wondering why her ultimate defense mechanism failed against the person she most needs protection from. Synopsis: It should have taken Juliette a single touch to kill Warner. Maybe I’ll make this an actual series – this summer would give me a great opportunity to do so!
